When the Evidence Disagrees With Itself: Adversarial Checks as Data Quality for Litigation
// dbtechnews

Standfirst: In most systems, conflicting records are a bug to fix. In a lawsuit, they are what the other side will use. ilovelawyer treats both problems as checks on the same case file.

Data teams run validation before a report goes out. A date that appears two ways, or an amount that does not reconcile, gets flagged before anyone acts on it. Litigation has the same problem with higher stakes: the inconsistency becomes cross-examination.

ilovelawyer, FORHU's case workspace for lawyers, runs two kinds of check on one bundle of documents.
Check one: internal consistency

On every analysis refresh, a Contradiction scan looks across the bundle for conflicting facts, such as dates, amounts and durations. Each conflict shows both sides, with the document, the page and a severity. A lawyer can resolve it or dismiss it as a false positive.

Check two: adversarial review

The Red Team pane reads the same file from the opposing side. It lists opposing counsel's likely arguments, ranked by threat, each with a suggested response.

One source of truth

Both checks work from the case file the rest of the workspace uses. Legal Issues, Strengths and Weaknesses refresh with each analysis, while rows a lawyer has entered by hand are kept rather than overwritten. Answers that cite authority keep a link only when it points to a source the assistant actually retrieved; anything else is shown as plain text.

The result is closer to a validation pipeline than a chat assistant. The system flags, and the lawyer decides which findings are real, what to fix and what to argue.
